The proudest moment this year was playing on the basketball team and being on other academic clubs. these moments are my proudest because I worked hard to show others I am one, athletic, two, smart and can do anything I want and put my mind to.

When I played on the basketball team I scored a lot of points being this my first year playing in middle school. Basketball is one of my favorite sports. My teammates and coaches were proud that I played because I did a lot to help the team take on five wins. I tried my hardest to do my best. My coaches asked me  why didn’t I play in the previous years and I told them I was involved in something else beyond school academics. But I worked so hard to prove that I am good by playing hard, playing smart, playing together, and having fun. During the basketball season I did have so much fun even with my teammates and coaches.

Another proud moment is when I got involved with Honor Society, Basketball, and yearbook committee. Honor Society was a experience for me I got to earn 401 hours for the session. I got involved with a lot of activities like Chinese Auction, Lock-in, and Induction ceremony. I got to be with my friends and do somethings for the community.

Memories:(

The times I remember the most in middle school are the field trips, pep rally’s and when I played on the basketball team. These times where most memorable because the time was spent with my friends.

The Field trips were memorable because I learned ideas, while I was on those trips. The trips we took to different places let me get to know the world. Some of those trips I went on were Sixflags, Hershey Park, Jungle Jim’s, Shorebirds, and other trips.

Another memorable time for me in middle school were pep rally’s. The pep rally’s were fun. We got to see people in athletic ability. I liked watching people compete, challenge and lose and embarrass themselves. But I had a great time at the pep rally’s, trying to be the loudest grade.

When I played on the basketball team was memorable because I scored alot of pionts, for my first year playing. I also played good defense, and got alot of rebounds. It was fun playing on the team with my friends.

This was a great year. I had so many memmories I will not forget. Even though my friends will go to different schools, they will always be my best friends. The memories we had will always be special, going in field trips, having pep rally’s and me being on the basketball team. Memories are the best part of friends. Friends are the best part of school.

report card

This year I have accomplished so much. But the accomplishment I am most proud of is getting an A in my worst subject,LA. I also got a high B in Contemporary Issues. I am proud of those grades because I really wasn’t focused at the begining of the year. But my grades weren’t D’s, and F,s but they were C’s and I wasn’t too happy because I now I can do better.

My grades have improved in LA by me focusing more. I even stopped talking so much and getting distracted easily and finished my work on time and turn in papers that were sopposed to be turned in on time. LA has taught me alot about orginization poems, and writing. I am thankful that my grades have improved even though I try hard.

I also have improved my grades in Contemporary Issues. I have improved by grades in this class because I work harder and focus. I have been trying to not work with people who will get me off focus and will cause me to get distracted and not turn in my work on time.

I am trying so hard to get my grades up to all A’s. When I get all A’s I get alot of money from my grandmom and grandpop individually. I will get my grades to where I want them at the end of the year.

Smile

Raina Telgemeier

"smile"
“smile”

I read the book called “Smile” was about a girl named Raina. Raina was at her girl scout meeting. Raina’s friend Kelli, took her home. Kelli had another friend in the car, so she got dropped off first because Kelli’s mom said she would drop her off first. As the girls got out of the car, the other girl that was in the car decides to race everyone else to Raina’s front door. But as they race to the front door Raina was behind Kelli and Raina tried to tag Kelli but Raina missed and trip and fell. Raina knocked out both of her front teeth and looked like a six year old all over again. Raina then had to go to the orthodontist and get a cast for her teeth.

Raina missed days of school. When Raina went back to school everyone asked her about what happened to her teeth and other questions that made Raina upset. Then Raina went back to the orthodontist and found out that her two front teeth hadn’t grown like they were sopposed to and they were shorter than the rest of her teeth. So Raina’s little sister made fun of her and called her a vampire. Raina was then sent to an Endodontist for root canals.

Raina’s birthday finally came. Along with her birthday party and her other birthday presents, Raina got braces after her birthday. But Raina wanted to get her ears pierced for a long time because her friends get their ears pierced. Raina felt different after she got her braces and always wanted them off but knew that the braces would help her teeth.

Raina then finally made it to the seventh grade and she has band with a cute guy that she thinks is cute.

But Raina blew him off at the school dance. He had a surprise for her at the dance but Raina got scared and didn’t show up.

Then suddenly an earthquake happened when Raina and her family where home. Then Raina realized that when the earthquake happened her sister hugged her like never before. Raina’s and her little sister felt closer than ever.

I think about the book that, you should never let people make fun of you and be happy. But you also have to be careful with what you do.

I do recommend this book because you get to laugh, feel sorry for Raina. You also get to learn about braces.

Choices

If i can’t do
what i want to do
then my job is to not
do what i don’t want
to do
It’s not the same thing
but it’s the best i can
do
If i can’t have
what i want . . . then
my job is to want
what i’ve got
and be satisfied
that at least there
is something more to want
Since i can’t go
where i need
to go . . . then i must . . . go
where the signs point
through always understanding
parallel movement
isn’t lateral
When i can’t express
what i really feel
i practice feeling
what i can express
and none of it is equal
I know
but that’s why mankind
alone among the animals
learns to cry

Written by Nikki Giovanni

What I think about the poem “Choices” is that in life you will try to make good or bad decisions. Those decisions can help you or hurt you, and you make the chioce if you want to travel the road of success.

Dancing is what’s new. My feet are starting to hurt in my tap shoes, meaning that I need some new ones before our this years recital in June. My feet are not hurting in jazz although i do need some new jazz shoes because they have a whole in them at the bottom. That’s new!!!!!!

“Success is counted sweetest”

Success is counted sweetest
By those who ne’er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need.

Not one of all the purple Host
Who took the Flag today
Can tell the definition
So clear of Victory

As he defeated-dying
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Burst agonized and clear!

Emily Dickinson

What I think about this poem “success is counted sweetest” is that success is important in this world. To do well means to succeed. Before you can succeed you have to through obstacles and when you go through obstacles you succeed. I always want to succeed in everything that I do, don’t you?

The Journey

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice–
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do–
determined to save
the only life you could save.
Mary Oliver

What I think abot this poem “The Journey” is that we all go through obsatcles in your life but at sometime in your life someone will help and guide you through the rest of your life you just have to believe for yourself. Not only want to get through you have to stay positve and never give up.

Sleeping in the Forest

I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.
Mary Oliver

What I think of the poem “Sleeping in the Forest” is that this world contains alot of creatures with wondrous works. These wondrous creatures make people have peaceful nights.

Touched by an Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Maya Angelou

What I think of the poem “Touched by an Angel” is that any person that has gone through obstacles in their life they finally get to overcome them. Being tired of not having anybody to talk or hang out with. Then suddenly along come someone that meets all your needs and then you feel that you have been “Touched By An Angel.”
